Job Summary:

D.A. Davidson & Co., a leading investment banking firm with operations primarily in the Western and Central U.S., is accepting applicants for a full-time entry-level Analyst position for its Chicago, IL office. The Analyst is expected to work primarily within the Financial Institutions Group, assisting clients with mergers and acquisitions, equity and debt offerings, fairness opinions and restructurings. All applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree and possess a minimum 3.5 GPA. The Analyst is expected to commit such time as is necessary to effectively fulfill their responsibilities, which will require 65 to 80 hours per week or more (including some weekends), depending on work load. Specific qualifications and general responsibilities of the individual are included below:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or business related field (science and math majors included) with a minimum 3.5 GPA

  • Previous work experience in investment banking, accounting, consulting, or corporate finance is a plus but not required

  • Computer proficiency (Microsoft Office skills, specifically Excel and PowerPoint)

  • General level of financial knowledge (financial modeling, macroeconomics, current events, etc.)

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Good judgment in confidential situations and ability to exercise discretion when handling confidential information

  • Upon hiring, the successful completion of the FINRA Limited Representative-Investment Banking Exam (Series 79) and the Uniform Securities Agent State Law Exam (Series 63)

  • Strong work ethic and ability to work on a team


  • Provide presentation / research material for pitch books, memorandums, presentations and other projects

  • Develop financial models to analyze a wide variety of client specific projects

  • Support business development activities of senior investment bankers

  • Interact with clients on transactional and technical issues

  • Limited travel will be required
